Are 997's out yet? I'm certain I saw one on the interstate the other day. Of course no camera in the car....

It was coming onto I-75N and I was behind it, drooling and believing it to be a 996. Then my fiancee said the tailights looked different, we had just left a dealership browsing their pre-owned 996's on the lot (how perceptive of her) :)

Anyways after she said this I went around it to see the front, sure enough the bug lights of old days, totally round and the color was one I hadn't seen, a greyish green (or greenish grey), really cool color BTW!

Upon getting back behind it, the tag was a Georgia plate that said "Distributor" and wasn't a normal Georgia plate.

Maybe it was a demo or something? I would think if it were brand new it would have been on a truck not just driving on the interstate in FL heading to Ga.

And finally as I kept staring at the car the driver noticed, downshifted and took off around some cars and was gone, as if he didn't want us gawking anymore.

Anyways, thought I'd share my sighting! :)

Of course I'm not in the market for a 997 (yet) but I plan to get either a Boxster S or a 996 3.4 in the next year or so.

Hi smaggard,

in Germany you can buy the 997 regular. The presentation was on july, 16. I went to Zuffenhausen (Porsches home & factory) to spend some time on the event.

For more details I will post you some photos.

Frank
