Odd squeak after replacing the clutch?

Recommended Posts

After having a seal rupture and my clutch disintegrate during my commute home a few weeks back, I had it replaced along with the flywheel and slave cylinder. 5 weeks later I am getting ready to go to work and start the car in the garage. I notice a slight squeak coming from the rear of the car. I am wondering if you can help me figure out the cause? Here's the symptoms:

1. The squeak only occurs when the clutch is released.

2. The squeak goes completely away when the clutch pedal is depressed about 10%

3. The squeak is worse when the engine is cold. If the engine is at operating temp, when you release the clutch it takes 10-30 seconds before the squeak begins.

4. The squeak seems to match engine revs.

The shop that replaced the clutch said they thought it might be the throw out bearing or the ball joint. What do you think?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Brad
