Extended Warranty

Recommended Posts

All,

My 07 Boxster S is coming to the end of the Porsche warranty (2 years). The dealer has quoted £1150 per year to go onto the Porsche approved warranty. I was wondering if anyone has an independant alternative that offers the same or more comprehensive cover for less?

Any help would be appreciated.

I note that Tesco's and Sainsburys seem to offer good cover for around £400 per year, anyone had any experience with these?

UK!

i got the tesco warranty, haven't needed to use i yet but it looked like the same cover. if you have a gap in the porsche warranty you have to get the 111 check done ahead of taking out a new porsche warranty. it starts getting expensive.

given rms and ims re the main things that bother me i took out the tesco one.

The two main warranty alternatives in the UK are Warranty Direct and Tesco. I went with warranty direct as they allow for monthly premiums , so if you sell the car you can either sell on the warranty or cancel it. Warranty direct have been great , they paid in full (minus the 25 pound excess) to have my car repaired in a Porsche dealership whilst I was touring on holiday last summer.

Hi berty987 !

forgot to mention I have done Tesco on monthly direct debit as well - no extra charge.

I haven't heard anyone's experiences on the Tesco one yet as I believe it is still a relatively new product (November 08?)

What is the warranty policy in the US?

I had good luck with Warranty Direct on a GM vehicle. They sadly had to pay out a fortune for a highly maintained, well treated vehicle. Anyway that was a few years ago so they may have changed but based on my experience I would give them another shot if I was in the position to need one.
