Coolant / antifreeze question....

Recommended Posts

found the diy for the coolant replacement so i bought the one they had recommended on the diy which was the zerex g-05... the reason i needed to do this was i needed to replace the waterpump... got everything out and noticed that the original coolant was orange / pink in color... i thought the zerex was gonna be the same color but when i put it in the distilled mixture it was green... is it okay to use the zerex or should i just drain that out and put havoline dexcool in... any help would be great...

I dont think it maters. If g-05 is recommended it should be ok. The main issue with the coolants for this motor is that they have no phohosphates and silica. That just happens to be the mixology of dexcool which was developed for GM. Just about everyone makes a "dexcool". Hope that helps, I'm pretty sure it correct. Pk
