#%%! Homelink

Recommended Posts

Ok I surrender. I've tried everything. I followed the manual , I tried using the learn code on my system.

I have a Genie garage door opener, my Boxster is a 2008.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, :help:

TIA,

Charlie

There may be an old code stored in the Homelink too, and this should be deleted before you try to train the Porsche to the Genie door. The newer garage door openers with the rolling code (learn function/button) can be a little tricky to program.

OK. Just got it to work.

1. Turn on ignition

2. Hold both the two outer buttons on Homelink to clear all codes (about 20 seconds) until LED begins to flash quickly, then release

3. Press button on Homelink that you want to program. Led will flash slowly.

4. Go to the front of the car. Aim your garage door remote at the front bumper just left of center.

5. While aiming at front bumper, Hold the garage door remote button until fog lights flash.

6. Press the Learn button on your garage door opener motor.

7. Go back inside car and press the Homelink button that your are programing twice.

8. That should do it.

Thank You Vettes73, it worked like a charm. The homlink site also has the same instructions, just found it there after finally getting it to work.

Thanks again to all who responded.

My sister had a problem with her BMW that the garage door was too old for the Homelink to function. Just a thought.

Wife's X5's Homelink was impossible! I printed Homelink.com instructions out and still had a problem.

Two minute call to Homelink Customer Service fixed it. :censored: BMW instructions were wrong.

Charlie, just curious, why didn't the instructions in the owner's manual work?

Funny, I read the instructions about 10 times. It seems I mistook program button on the receiver for the button on the handheld transmitter. Oh well we all learn something new every day. :D

I had the same issue with my 2008. The owner's manual is written as if there are two sperate scenarios; Vettes73 instructions 1-6, and 7-8. In fact you need to do both back to back.

I I, too, found the @#$%^ Homelink problematic trying to code it. It took 2 years but the friggin homelink finally failed on a consistent basis - the LED for reprogramming no longer lit up! Back to dealer - they said it was a software issue and reflashed the car. It didn't fix it. dealer replaced the homelink unit behind the bumper. I drove it home - it programmed the first time and has held, worked without problem ever since. Please note I also have a 2008 model.
