help me find the owner of my car!

Recommended Posts

Hi all, my name is Vivek Sureddi, and i am the proud owner of a new to me 2002 C4s 6 speed . I am trying to locate the previous owner. i promise i have nothing to contend with over the vehicle, it was (so it seems) well taken care of, the paint is in good shape, just needs a detailing with the right set of products to get some swirling/webs out. the clutch doesnt slip, and the PPI done by Rusnak Porsche in Pasadena, CA came out pretty clean. 1 range 2 over rev (nothing to be concerned with was what i was told). i just want to know the history of my vehicle, chat with the owner about the maintenance thus far, just find out anything i can about her.

some things that may ring a bell:

the vehicle is lightly tinted

it has a kenwood ddx6019 installed, with rear view camera

stock turbo twists, no suspension work to my knowledge

the owner was a PCA member (i will be posting this again on the PCA site)

the member was a member of the El Caballero Golf Club, presumably in California.

when i recieved the vehicle, it came with only 1 key, no service records, no navi cd, but thank goodness they tossed in the floor mats! i'd like to think i got a good deal on the car (purchased from a private used car dealer). if you have any information on who the owner maybe, please have him get in contact with me.

i look forward to learning alot from you all, and i'll see you at the track/auto x's.

Here are a couple of things you can do yourself.

1. Get a Carfax, That should list the original selling dealer when new, or at least the location. They sometimes, not always, will say when the car was serviced and what was done. You can figure it out from there. Buy a new service - maintenance book at Porsche and ask the dealer to redocument any services they have for that VIN. They should be able to tell you if other dealers took care of the Vehicle. They won't give you previous names for good reason, but it will help fill in the details. If the non warranty services were non outside of Porsche, your'e out of luck there.

2. You can also get for a fee a Certificate of Authenticity from PCNA. This will list all options, color, engine number etc.

Good Luck!

I got lucky on mine as I found an old registration in the owners manual and was able to find the original owner by name in Google (He had a house for sale in Nevada).

He put all of the papers in the car (maintenance and service records from day one) and the idiots at the auction house threw all that out.

"Privacy Concerns" was the excuse I was given. 8-o
