2002 Cab.

Driver’s seat makes a groaning noise on occasion when I move the seat back. I used a light coat of petroleum jelly on the track with no improvement. Is this noise a symptom of a bigger problem or one that can be solved w/ more thorough lube? THANKS

My '01 Boxster driver seat did this for the first few years. Dealer periodically lubed the mechanism, but it continued to groan until they replaced it under warranty. I haven't had any repeat noises after the mechanism was replaced (over 4 years ago), so I assume it's inherent in the seat mechanism

The seat track motor has a cable in a Bowden tube that the drive gear is attached too. The cable gets dry and binds in the Bowden tube which makes the groaning noise. The fix is to remove the seat, disassemble the track motor assembly and lubricate the cable in the Bowden tube.

Mine does that too moving backwards. But moving forward is perfectly fine. :unsure:

However, just becoz' I am the only driver and the seat doesn't have to move, I decided to just let it be.

If I have to fix it in the future, I'd be calling on you for tips, OrientExpress!

I have the exact same issue, moving toward the rear only. Anyone able to post DIY instructions/ photos on how to make this repair? I don't mind doing this work myself, but I would attempt it only with a good set of instructions. I'm a bit concerned that without the proper lubrication, eventually something will break at the least opportune time. Thanks in advance for your help.
