Vin Decoder- 03 996 TT

Recommended Posts

I read there is a VIN decoder for Porsche somewhere.

I want to decode the VIN on my 03 996 Turbo.

Also, what specifically on the car would display if the car has the X50 upgrade?

Thanks :)

:welcome:

The VIN decoder is under the top menu "Documents".

The VIN does not contain any option information.

Start by looking for the option code sticker on the underside of the front hood.

The Option Codes Lookup is under the same Documents menu item at the top.

Under the front of the hood my X50 lists the following factory installed options,

C02 XHF X5Y X50 X54 X70 X71 342 375 376

You're looking for the "X50" :)

Thanks.

Now I checked under the hood, as well as rear, door jams and could not find any option list plate anywhere.

However, I did decode the VIN using the VIN decoder on the forum, and it said I have the following:

"3.6-Ltr, 450-bhp, Flat 6-Cyl, 6-Spd Std, 5-Spd Auto, Bosch Motronic"

I assume the 450 HP is the X-50 Package?

Thanks everyone!

It is not a plate it is a sticker.

There should also be a copy in the maintenance manual (if you have it).

If you dont' have a white sticker under the bottom side of the front trunk hood...it may be possible that the hood was replaced? As far as I know...all the cars come with that white sticker under there that lists the build codes and options.

It is. Mine doesn't have it (standard 420bhp - can't complain B)) but the VIN decoder says it does. Ah well.
