rear plastic window tint or not?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 Carrera Cab and I am having the rear plastic window replaced and double stitched in place. My choices of plastic are clear, light greenish tint or a dark black tint. Does anyone have expeience with a dark tint. It is my early preference and my concern would be at night backing up. Please comment with experiences.

You could drop the top at night :) The rear window on my coupe has fairly dark tint and I don't think is a big problem at night. The dark black tinted plastic window may last longer too.

I am in Toronto Canada. I did some research and looked at some of their work. They will take the top off, double stitch the window in and readjust when it is installed. The top and headliner are perfect. They quoted me $750 and 2 days in the shop. I'm going to get it done within the next couple of weeks. I will supply before and after pictures.

Thanks --- as I said I need mine done. A shop here quoted me $400. and told me the best time to do it is the heat of summer. I think I would go with the darkest tint they had.

Good luck,

Chuck

Well, I delivered my car to the shop yesterday and it will be ready tomorrow. Here's what it looked like when I dropped it off. I will post the new pictures this week.

I personally hate anything that might obscure rear visibility when on alert for John Law slipping up on me. Lightbar or unmarked silhouette w/o lights.

Crown Vics still give me a cold jolt of sh*t to the heart, even though there are lot of others out there now.
