let me guess your oil pressure light has been coming on or the oil pressure itself on the guage is high. These **** sender units are garbage. Luckily it is a quick easy minimal cost fix. I had to replace mine.

Mine is fluctuating a great deal and then will drop to zero which will then trigger the indicator failure message then go back to reading high. Does this sound like the sender?

Thanks,

Tony

Either a loose/bad connection or a bad sender in most cases.

I'm experiencing the same problem with my 2002 911. I get the indicator failure message and the gauge goes to zero and then bounces back. Is this a critical fix or can it wait a week.

How easy is the repair for a really technically challenged person? Can anyone attach a photo of it's location.

Thanks in advance.

I replaced the sending unit and the problem is gone.:D You have to have patience and work by feel, but I didn't have to modify any tool. I did remove the right rear wheel and heat shield in order to break loose the sending unit as I couldn't get enough leverage reaching through the a/c hoses.

I now have 2.5-3 bar at idle when hot and 4-4.5 bar at highway speeds and no fluctuating needle.

Thanks for the information.

Tony
