Any when care to guess what this leak is?

Recommended Posts

Any guess what this leak is from:

I believe that pipe is the left intake pipe that is coming from the drivers side oil collection container.

The fluid does not look or feel like oil. I am headed to the track in a few day and wondering if I should take care of this first.

I agree with Loren that it's coolant. First place to look would be the water pump and you need to get it sorted before heading to the track.

Looks like coolant to me.

Check the hoses and water pump and of course the coolant tank cap.

Thanks Loren and wvicary

Looks like road goop to me.

I would sand it off and paint it rust black.

Take a look on the top of the engine , left side. If there is fluid take a look at the seal on the picture. I saw a leak lately on a turbo and replacement of a o-ring on this part was needed..

Thanks for the info and diagram. Tremendous help all of you. I will let you know what it turns out to be. I am running out of time before the next track day and forced to drop it of at the dealer in the morning. Hopfully covered by warranty, but needs to be fixed regardless. Would hate to get stranded at the track or worse not be able to run - or put someone else in danger cause of a fluid spill on the track.

Anyway, great forum full of great people with tons of knowledge....props to you all...

peace.

looks a little like coolent but you cant be too carfull with yellow/green looking liquids like that it could be power stearing fluid and it's highly flamable stuff. I had a power stearing leak coming from a pipe on the right hand side of the engine just behind the airbox.. I only noticed it when I saw my car smoking as the fluid was running over the hot exhaust.. very scary indeed. I did find that before this got replaced avery time i pulled the car up on the drive I could smell a hot cluch/engine smell one that everyone says is normal cluch warming smell! after this leak got fixed this smell has never come back so i'm not too sure if it is normal!.. i'd get it checked out.. you could start the car and see if you can see it leaking from any pipes in the engine bay.. just a heads up it might just be coolent but you dont want a car fire if is stearing fluid.. check you tank level also..
