Car shutting off while driving.

Oddly enough, this just happened to me as well only yesterday! I didn't think much of it until I came across this post today. I started up the car to head to lunch, drove about 40 seconds and at the first stop sign, the car just died and all the dash lights came on. I just turned the key off and restarted and it fired right up. Now that I see this thread, I think I'll have to do a bit more investigation.

I has the same issue in my 996TT and after Evoms did a boost leak test everything went back to normal.

Boost leak or smoke test is what I would recommend. Good luck!

FYI...follow up...ended up being the ignition switch spring. $100 and 5 minutes from my mechanic did the trick. Sometimes you get lucky...

PS On a worse note: Blew up the engine on the 944s racecar at Barber...ka-boom. No more #3 piston. :(
