Litronic Headlamp help

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am new to this board and have some questions about Litronic Headlights. I recently bought a 2002 Porsche Boxster base 2.7 and love it. I have recently bought two used litronic headlamps to change the look of the car. I have called my local dealer and they said it would cost $750 dollars to fit each HID igniter on the inside of the car. I was shocked at the price and would have had second thoughts purchasing the two headlights if I had knew this sooner. My question is can I just plug and fit these headlights to my base model? I know I will not have the auto leveling but have heard that they will work anyway without this. The guy I bought them off was very helpful and said the HID igniters where already on the headlamp but the dealer said it was an internal fit. I would also like to know if this is the bulbs I need before I order them http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/...eeded%2C%20Each

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Rob

OEM Litronic will fit without problems on the Halogen connector/wiring, just plug and play.

Im sorry I don't know much about the lights. What is OEM? Here is a photo of one of the ones I got http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...RTQ:MOTORS:1123 Also was that the right bulbs for the headlamp.

Thanks a lot for getting back to me with this.

How do you not know what OEM means? Original Equipment Manufacturer.....in this case Porsche. Plug and play. Also I noticed in the picture it has a BROKEN CLIP. How are you going to fix this as I am wondering what this clip is actually for? Doesn't this clip help lock the headlamp into place? If so I would be on the phone calling Porsche to get a new clip for the assembly or you are screwed.

Woah -- easy folks....

Not everyone knows automotive acronyms --

Hats off to even attempting to work on your own Porsche....

My understanding (after just recently asking on this forum)

is that you can get most of the functionality by just plugging the headlamps into the existing connectors and go..

BTW, you outbid me on that lamp :-)

Thanks a lot for getting back to me on this. Yeah I emailed the guy that sold me them and offered him $500 for the pair and he said he would take $550 shipped I bit his arm off when he did that and they are in great condition too. He was great to deal with and very helpful. Yeah I am just waiting on the bulbs coming and going to fit them myself. Looking forward to changing the look of the car and loose those ugly amber headlights. BTW im selling the old ones too if you are interested ;-)

Rob
