996 Questions moving from a 986

Recommended Posts

thinking of picking up a 00 996 from having owned two previous 986 (97 and 00) was wondering if anyone here has done the same. i know there's a big difference in power but how about handling? doing the change as i have two young ones who keep fighting about who goes with daddy... are the issues in terms of engines the same in regards to the ims?

I upgraded from a 97 Boxster to a 99 996 cab, several years back.

Do it, you'll never look back.

As Jeremy Clarkson says on Top Gear "The only reason you buy a Boxster is because you can't afford a 911!". I know that's why I did.

The back seats are a good size for little kids. My 6 year old son loves it!

The main difference you'll find apart from MUCH better straight line speed is the 911 is certainly not as forgiving in the bends as the Boxster.

You will learn to become good friends with copious amounts of understeer compared to your Boxster. But it's all part of the learning curve.

If you get a cabriolet (why wouldn't you!), fit a strut brace, even my wife noticed the difference....

Best of luck

DS
