I use my 1983 911sc as my everyday car. It was running really well until the other day it died in traffic. I thought I may have run out of petrol but after topping up it failed to start. The Battery and Oil warning lights don't come on now when when key is in "on" position. All other electrics seem fine. When attempting to start it makes a healthy attempt but doesnt fire. Any ideas on what I can try?

First thing to check with ignition key on is for power on both ends of the fuses. Some fuses will not have power at all but what does happen is the fuses corrode or from heat cycling over the years lose their tension. Chances are you'll find the fuel pump fuse or a few others that have only power on one terminal and not the other end with the fuse not blown open circuit. Just remove the fuse, clean the contact patch and re-tension the contact tabs in the fuse block. Best of luck.

I'd guess fuel pump and/or fuel pump relay. try swapping the relay for another.... then check whether the pump is getting juice and working... good luck

Thanks for all suggestions. It took a new fuel pump.

This happened to me. If I injected a little fuel by lifting the FPR plate you should here fuel. if then it does try to start, you will most likely find a ruptured coupler on one or more of your runner ti intake coupler.

Although a new pump did fix your issues I will leave this up for others.
