Shifter linkage replacement

Recommended Posts

Had anyone tried DIY on replacing the shifter linkage? My shifter is very loose, I search on previous posts alot of people install a short shift kit and it solved the problem. I don't really want a short shift kit on my car, can I just replace the linkage itself? If so, is it differicult to replace? I appreciate if someone can provide instructions or diagram. :)

Thank you,

Tim

I apologize for the duplicate post. I found I should post on the DIY section after I post here...

Is it usually the ball socket that wears out or the shifter linkage? Right now my shifter is loose like my 911SC... <_<

Thanks!

Please do not double and triple post - I have removed your duplicate posts.

You need to use the B&M instruction to open the console and inspect the ball socket on the end of the shifter - this is the part that usually wears out.

Looks like a short shift kit is way to go... :)

Anyone had experience with the generic short shift kit sold on ebay? I just did a search, the ebay shifter kit are half the price of the B&M kit. I wonder are there any different beside the brand name.

Thx

Do a search for posts by Tool Pants - there is a 60 post discussion of the eBay shifters.
