Heated Seat Problem

Recommended Posts

:( Has anybody had previous problems with the heated seats, my drivers seat will not toggle on. The switch is fine (works on the passenger side), the fuse is ok, but when pressed the light on the switch flashes on then goes straight back out again, I suspect it is the seat relay - anybody know which one it is, so I can check. Had a look through previous forums without success.

Thanks

Tracked the problem to a broken heater element in the seat upright, right at the bottom of the cushion. Am going to cut the seat underneath and try to solder / fix together. Any body had a good / bad experience in either repairing broken elements or repairing the hole in the leather afterwoods?

Any luck with this? Do you have any details on removing the elements?

Thanks,

Don't cut the leather, you don't need to. The center of the seat section comes out fairly easily. Check out this web site:

http://www.dennisvogel.com/heatedseats/index.html

There are instructions for installing heated seats in a boxster. I used these to intall heated seats in my 996 by replacing the foam cushions and installing the wiring, switches, etc. You can get a new foan insert with the heat grid for less that $100 from Sunset. You may need a upholstery shop to do the hog clips on the back center leather piece if you are not comfortable doing this yourself. I guess you could try to solder the grid/wires , BUT PLEASE DON'T CUT YOUR LEATHER!!!

If you need some further help let me know.
