Recently my clutch pedal started making a squeaking sound on my 996 03 C4S. the sound is very evident when the car is switched off as you press and depress the clutch.

i initially thought it was the clutch pedal spring, but when i took it to the dealership, they said it's the slave cylinder so i had that replaced.

2 days ago i get the same sound again!! it sounds exactly like a spring being stretched, any ideas on how to fix this irritating sound?

Thanks!! :renntech:

I would take it back to the dealership who sold you an a slave you didn't need and have them lube the mechanism...

I agree. I've read in here somewhere that the sound you describe is fairly common and only need a little lube. Put this into the "Porsche Mysteries" file.

Get on the pedal area and look up. Use a bit of WD40 on the intersection between the pedal and the metal bracket. That's where the noise is coming from. Don't over spray as it may drip on the actual pedal. Work the mechanism a couple of times and the noise will be done. I did mine 2 years ago and is not back.

+1 on this my car had exactly the same issue, took it to the mechanic and 5 mins later he gave it me back with no squeak, just lubed the clutch, no charge, tremendous!

Here's what's happened so far... [just for info it's not only the pedal that's squeeking, there's a sound coming from somewhere above the transmission. near the slave cylinder.

took back the car for lubing of the mechanism, they lubed it with heat resistant lube... worked like a charm for 2 days only!!! after that the sound came back.

took it back to the dealer, he calls me and says to fix it the job will cost around 1500$!!!

he wants to replace the pressure plate, clutch release bearing, intermediate piece, ball pin clutch actuation, clamp clutch release lever, sealing ring...

i looked at him in disbelief!!! i dunno if he's tryin to scam me for another un needed job, but i'm sure as hell not dumb to believe all these need to be replaced to get rid of the squeeking!!

any opinions comments appreciated.

Please stop going to the dealer! They obviously don't know how to address your issue. They already screwed you on the slave cylinder. That they are now trying to sell you a clutch is pathetic.

Find a good independent and have him diagnose your issue.

Just so you know my dealer wanted to replace my engine on one of my 996 cars because of a strange noise (and thanks to this forum) it turned out to be a loose spark plug :o I went back to them and told them how I fixed it myself and they were not too talkative......

Don't have too much respect for those guys to say the least.. B)
