Creaking around pano moonroof

Recommended Posts

I bought a Cayenne last week and there's a really, really annoying creaking sound coming from the front right of the moonroof.

It happens when going over bumps, driving on roads, turning corners slowly, pulling away, etc.

Makes the noise whether the roof is open or closed. It's not exactly at the edge of the moonroof, but about 2 or 3 inches in, right above the right side of my head.

I can't reproduce it by pressing any of the surrounding trim.

Similar noise coming from the rear, sounds like it could be the surround for the back window, not sure yet.

Anyone else had this with the pano roof?

Also, the car seems to pull to the left quite a bit, but not always. Sometimes on braking also, sometimes not.

James

Inspect the front suspension joints and bushings as they can cause the steering pull and have the alignment verified. I've never mucked about with the pano roof but have read about the drain tubes coming adrift so slim chance that maybe that noise is from them.

This method can help to get the creaking sound out of the moon roof unit, it take some time to do it but shows satisfactory results. Lower the head trim, loosen the nuts which hold the unit to the roof approx. two turns, spray gently some amount of grease between the unit and the roof, tighten the nuts and place back the head trim.

I had the same problem. Still comes and goes but I found that normal yet regular use (open/close) solves it ... that is till I forget to use it for a while and the sounds creeps back in.

The dealer could not do anything it to it though I have taken it over 5 times and I get the: this is normal in this kind of weather excuse (I live in the UAE).

Thanks.... bit too involved for me though, I would screw it up!

Took back to dealers this morning. They are having it today and tomorrow to see if they can fix all the noises.

Did they fix it? Mine is making similar noises.

Sorry mate, I never saw your reply. To sum up:

Noise 1 - "tick tick tick": A creaky bit above my head and to the right, they sorted this..

Noise 2 - "bleet bleet bleet" : A "budgie" type noise coming directly from the middle of the pano roof. The fixed this.

Noise 3 - "eauaarrrr" : The drivers door, but seemed to go away if I opened the window ever so slightly. They fixed this too.

Noise 4 - "flutter flutter flutter": The near side rear door, still there, happens at 25mph +.

Noise 5: - "tick tick ticcckkk eauarrr creak": The rear part of the roof, where it meets the hatch. Most irritating of all and not fixed. Happens constantly and at any speed.

This is on top of all the usual squeaks and bumps I've just come to live with, but aren't constant. So no, in a word, they haven't!
