Window not working

Recommended Posts

Just returned from having the track adjusted and noticed the drivers door window not working. Motor still works, and I can pull the window up and down. Checked the manual, but would apreciate any tips on removing the door card, the door lever cover looks tricky, also what might have broken? I'm thinking someone leant on the window.

Timbo:

Here is a link with good instructions and photos for removing the door panel: http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster/projects/window/

Cheers Maurice, any idea what might have broken if someone leant on it?

Timbo:

The most likely culprit is a broken/frayed regulator cable. Sometimes the cable just "stretches" over time and in that instance you lose the 1/2" window drop that you normally get when you pull on either the inner or outer door handle.

Once you remove the door panel the first time, it gets very easy to remove it again. :P

Just pay special attention to resealing that vinyl liner, otherwise you may get some water intrusion into the cabin (via the door sill) through the door panel.

If you do a search here, you will find lots of posts that have photos of the window regulator and the inside of the door, etc...

Regards, Maurice.

Well it was the cable, not too difficult to change, many thanks for the advice. Only problem now is the air bag light is on. Little confession, I did the job without disconnecting the battery, and tested the window with the air bag disconnected, any tips how to get the light to stay out.

To turn off the airbag light, you are going to need either a Durametric, a PST2, or PIWIS.
