Mass Air Flow Sensor

What type of air cleaner do you have? factory? after- market?

Loren, what effect does the air cleaner type have on the MAF? I'am having this MAF problem; although not relacing the MAF, just resetting the codes. The fault will reappear in 2 or 3 days and i have wondered about the air cleaner. Is it possible this could be caused by a dirty air cleaner?

A dirty or damaged air cleaner will let larger particles of dirt into the direct flow of the MAF. An oiled air cleaner can contaminate the MAF with oil (when over oiled) and most of the oil type air cleaners allow larger particles to pass than the factory air cleaner.

Try using MAF sensor cleaner on the MAF - if it only dirty this should cure the CEL. If the MAF is damaged then you have no choice but to replace it.
