Water Pump Torque Specs Please

Recommended Posts

Hi Loren,

I read the great DIY posts and video on the water pump replacement and will need to do it.

I could not find the torque specs.

Do you know the torque specs for the various bolts?

Mainly:

the 7 (10mm) water pump bolts

engine support bolts (15mm)

exhaust catalytic converter bracket bolts (13 mm)

An interesting side note: my 2003 C-2 with a reman engine built around 5/2006 uses external torx bolts for the 7 (10mm E-torx) bolts securing the water pump and another 10mm E-torx on the engine carrier bracket.

Thanks,

Eric

Thanks, Loren!

One more question please.

I also plan to replace some water hoses. I noticed the big one on the right/passenger side near the muffler goes from below the engine and up to the upper side into a metal bracket.

Is that hose a one-piece unit with the metal bracket or does it somehow slip into the metal bracket and gets secured by that wire clip?

Thanks,

Eric

  • 2 weeks later...

I installed the water pump and a small elbow hose. It's working great. Thanks for the tips and specs, Loren.

I wanted to change the water hose #23, but I could not get the old #23 hose off where it connects to the hard alumimum pipe. It is press-fitted and secured by a C-clamp. I was able to take off the C-clamp but was unable pull the hose off.

Any hints or suggestions? Special tools needed?

Hose #23 is on the right/passenger rear section of the engine that bends around the right motor mount.

Thanks,

Eric
