'99 Carrera Convertible Top

Recommended Posts

I could use some advice. I had the top serviced just last year by my favorite Porsche mechanic. It was working fine until last weekend. When I attempt to open the top, I hear a high-pitched whirring sound and the top stops about half-way. If I manually help it along, i.e. with my hands while someone else pushes the button, it works OK, but I've stopped using until I can figure out the problem. Is the motor going? Does anyone have any experience with similar problems?

Check the fluid level. If it's low correct the level using Pentosin 11S or it's replacement 202. Be sure and not get any fluid on anything painted, rubber or plastic.

Use Silicone lube to lube all joints on both sides of the top movement mechanism. This may help. My 2000 C2 top was having hardtime (jerking) to close and it works fine after I did the lube.
