Operation Of Alarm Horn

Recommended Posts

Another newbie question

Just when should the alarm horn beep or go off?

Is there a setting to have the horn beep when locking the car?

Should the horn go off if the car is locked, with top down and you reach into the car?

I tried that and open the glove box and nothing happened.

I love getting a new car and figuring out the quirks.

Thanks

Chuck

Mine seems to go of sort of randomly but, I think it’s supposed to beep when the door or something is ajar…or in a witching moon.

I don’t really care anymore, I just listen for the locks or just watch the lights, but it has ammused me for years.

I listen to your replies.

Regards, PK

not when locking the car,,,

the horn will not go off, when U reach into the car with the top down,,,unless there is a by-pass clip.

Well today it seems to feel like beeping when locking the car.

Of course after I make a post wondering about it's operation.

I do also listen for the doors to lock, but at least now I know it does

make a sound.

One beep means one (or more) zones is open.

Two beeps means there is an alarm fault - which needs to be repaired.

I got one beep after replacing my faulty PCM I with a Clarion MAX983HD.

Was the alarm checking for the radio head unit?

Is it possible to get lid schematic to check them manually?

thanks
