Gear Selector Stiff - 987-1 Tiptronic S

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a 2005 987 Boxster S Tiptronic. I've noticed after a long run that the gear selector lever becomes very stiff to move, alomst to the extent that it needs to be moved with both hands. Also the gate/selection seems a lot more vague/less precise when this happens.

Anyone out there ever come across this before? Would be useful to know if this is a common issue.

Thanks

Jim

There was a TB in 06 (ROW) concerning shift lever mechanism replacement, the TB was for 997, but 987 suffers with the same issue. I would consult an OPC near you.

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. Will contact my local dealer and see what they say.

Hi

I called my local dealer on this, and as expected I was treated with complete indifference, saying that they are not aware of any recall or TB on this issue. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do next, to be honest.

Are you able to provide any more info on this at all, so I'm not flying blind when I call them back?

Many thanks

Jim
