Rear entertainment system problem

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My 08 CS has Porsche rear entertainment system.

Recently it stopped show DVD video but audio is functioning. I suspect my kid hit the unit on passenger side that time.

I can hear the sound of DVD title with original wireless headphone.

Other function through Aux RCA cable is working normal both in audio and video. I checked with Camcorder.

My dealer checked it and said main control module in passenger side needs exchange with new and cost wound be insanely high.

Sadly, warranty of my car is over.

Will there be a way to fix the unit instead of exchange the whole unit on passenger side?

I also consider connect aftermarket DVD player through AUX to entertainment system if it can't be repaired.

Thank you in advance.

James

Hi James,

Are both monitor black?

Or does it continuously show the porsche logo.

This dutch company made the systewm for porsche: http://www.eurologics.nl/nl/productdetail.php?item_id=22

Send them an email. Perhaps they can fix it for you!

Will be much cheaper, but still not as cheap as just buying an portable dvd player and plug it into aux.

I am not a technician, but if it turn and there is nothing visible (try multiple DVD's) than it could be the laser (not sure, because you have sound). Laser should be an easy fix. Replacment should not be necessary. Try your local car DVD/audio shop.

Good luck,

Frank

Hi Frank,

Thank you for your kindness.

When turned on, it shows white screen for only a half second and turns to blue.

I think it is trying to show Porsche logo but before the logo is displayed both screens turn to blue.

Both monitors are exactly same and synchronized.

Pushing the menu button, menus such as choosing AV input, changing monitor contrast and brightness are displayed on that blue screen.

I tried with different DVD titles.

Great info. I'll contact that company.

Thank you again.

James
