04 Boxster S Dyno Results

Recommended Posts

A number of you have asked me for hard numbers on my Boxster S and I guessed around 295 FH , but that was only a guesstimate, Turns out I was not far off. Check out this video of the dyno run. The run was made on a Dynojet which is not known for high number but I believe more realistic numbers. I may have lost about 2-3% due to the high temp and humidity we had today and some even believe those wide wheels I'm running are sucking down some hp but that's OK - I'm happy with these numbers since I did all the work myself

The 04 986S is rated at 264 hp if I'm not mistaken. How did you get up to 292 hp? Did the 987 style intake help?

I redid the dyno on a cooler less humid day and the hp is actually at a hair under 310 FWHP . the stock engine is supposed to be 259 FWhp. I put headers on (cheap ones from ebay - eliminated the other cats - Borla muffler - cold air (made myself) - softronic dme tune - Pedro's garage planum- thats it, runs like a raped ape.

Harry,

I think that is pretty impressive. I got 252 at the wheels in my '04 986S - no motor mods except eliminating all cats, but I still have the stock muffler.

I drive the number 32 Boxster, silver, at Chin events - I've seen you there.

nice

So no problems with the softronic flash? I was just gonna get that alone but now seeing your results i'm thinking of getting headers, air intake, and new exhaust too. Did you do the ECU flash after everything was installed?

No problems at all, with softronics you do the flash yourself, it comes with intructions just make sure you follow them to the letter. The other stuff just added to the softronic flash, Keep us posted on your results

Was that you I passed? lol just kidding... Chin was definately fun, I cant make this month but next time they run at Sebring again , I will be there. the 252 number sounds a little high just for eliminating the cats, but like I said before, dyno's are really only meant to compare the changes you made on your car, but results from one dyno to another aren't going to give you any real world comparison. Do you have a base dyno, just before you made your change? curious to know how much difference that really made
