Ignition coils - now warrantied!

Recommended Posts

its for all 2003-2006, all models, the warranty is 4 years or 50K miles on the COILS from the date of replacement so long as the vehicle was under 100K when the coils were replaced. It also allows for $ reimbursement if you paid for them to be replaced so long as you have receipts

I will post the pdf Monday

edit : seems to be for 04 and higher part numbers

So I have a 2005 w/ 49700 miles and I believe I am having some coil issues. Car idles weird on first cold start of the day for about 20 seconds. If it is the coils would I still fall under this new warranty since I'm out of original warranty based on time? thanks for the info. Plan on calling Porsche dealer tommorow.

Very cool! Any way you can scan the letter or take a pic of it and post here? Be sure to remove your name and info before you post. Thx.

Here is a pdf of the letter I got. I realized later I may have a shot at getting my $$ back if I can find the receipt for the parts.

Hello All,

My CS04 coils and ignitions are replaced back in 2008 at 37,000 miles under warranty. I learned that the part number for the coils used at the time is 948-602-104-03

Can you please tell me if these are considered same old bad design coils or the upgraded/redesigned ones? Thanks,

nh9095,

What was the issue with your idling? I had similar probs, dealer took throttle body and cleaned them. Seemed to make a difference. I have about 49k on the odo.

Been a while since anyone has mentioned this important extended warranty and I have some new information on my case, so here goes. I finally found the receipt for the coils. It was with some other parts for another project I bought at the same time. Never thought to look in THOSE boxes! So I send the letter and receipt to Porsche a couple of months ago and time goes by so I get antsy. After many phone calls I get a check for the parts but no labor reimbursement. Many more phone calls to the gods explaining I can't find the receipt but that their own letter plainly states that they "may" reimburse what Porsche would charge. Initially they refused. You can read that part of the letter in my post above. It's about two thirds of the way down the page. Then I talk some more and they reconsider but here is the rub. They refuse to pay what Porsche would charge me to do the job. I get a check today for $174.20 They call this a compromise which is not the same as a reimbursement. I have to look at this as better than nothing, which is what I had since 2009 when I bought the coils.
