2000 boxster replacing front + lower control arms

Recommended Posts

Got a clunking noise whenever making low speed turn in the parking lot which goes away at normal speed. Was told to replace a pair of front control arms + a pair of lower control arms to fix the problem.

Has Anyone tried Vertex auto's refurbished (better than new "as claimed") control arm kits with improved ball joints.

Thinking about ordering the following parts.

1.

Part No:

99634105316R Rebuilt Front Control Arm x 2 (Left & Right)

2.

Part No:

99634104306X Rebuilt Lower Control Arm x 2 (Left & Right)

Should I order any other parts when I present the above items to my local mechanic? Anything I should change out while disassembling the control arm apparatus?

Many thanks for your advice.

Stuff I have gotten from Vertex has been fine. Their customer service has been good too, so if you are not happy once they arrive, I think they are customer focused enough that they would take them back.

Agree with Loren on the upper strut mounts - and with the new or rebuilt control arms, you will get new bushings in those - new bushings I bet will make a difference in how it feels.

Only a couple of other things under there - tie rods; sway bar drop links; and sway bar bushings.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life but having the same issue.

Dealer diagnosis my 04' S ratteling sound in left rear. They said it was the L/S Control Trailing Arm (bad bushing) 986-331-043-07. Is it safe to buy an rebuit one from Vertex for the left side? Does any one have instructions on how to replace this. Dealer wants $500 for part and $200 installation.

Dearler said it was not a safety issue but just a noise issue, are they correct? Also do I have to have the Dealer do alignment or can a alignment shop work ok?
