Shift knob wont release 99 Boxster Tiptronics

I'm having this problem for a week now, when i start the car and try to shift from Park to Drive the Interlock wont release, if i rev the engine while pushing on brake for a minute then it will release, car is 99 Boxster Tiptronics, any tip would be greatly appreciated. Vic

Not sure if I follow your question. What do you mean by release? Won't shift from Park to Drive? Reving the engine shouldn't make any difference. With the car running, as you put your foot on the brake pedal you should hear a click of the selinoid or relay for the interlock.

If that's not what you mean please reword the problem.

wont go from park to drive, if you don't have brake depressed the shift knob wont go down, the only way i can have it work is to Rev the engine and just push on brake in order for the knob to releas so i can move from park to Drive, so there is a selinoid or relay? i didnt hear any clicking,

Not sure if I follow your question. What do you mean by release? Won't shift from Park to Drive? Reving the engine shouldn't make any difference. With the car running, as you put your foot on the brake pedal you should hear a click of the selinoid or relay for the interlock.

If that's not what you mean please reword the problem.
