New on board. Presentation and comments

Recommended Posts

Well, it’s time.

I’m new on board our forums, this is my first post here and just in case someone cares I’ll do a tiny presentation about myself.

As most of us here, I’m absolutely nuts about cars. I frequently drive formula cars but unfortunately I’m not active in any type of competition because of not having enough free time left for allowing me to compete in a dignified way. My job is a sort of jealous girlfriend. Someday…

Well. Currently owning a 911 (996) ’04 C4S which is frankly delightful. Initially I intended for a 996 C2 with stiff suspension, LSD, PSE and all that stuff.

In the meantime, I was offered by the dealer a vacant C4S ordered by some guy that tired of waiting for it’s delivering ended on board an Aston Martin’s revamped Jag XJS: the DB7, poor guy.

Now I don’t regret at all a decision which was based under a need-to-drive-it-now basis. It’s simply superb.

Recently I spent a whole week-end hard-testing a 997 C2S with ceramic brakes, LSD and optional sport-suspension. I think it’s fabulous, yet it’s marginally better than a 996. Steering wheel is more vague and remote than that of a 996 for my taste, the new AISIN gearbox is better but not significantly better, handling is superb, light and nimble if only not for everyone. Once its limits are surpassed (and this car demands exploration of its capabilities with a hard fist and a cold mind) it understeers as easily as it oversteers once it’s really driven hard; it’s fantastic for playing around but not a truly everyday car. I highly hate that sport button that anihilates gas-pedal sensitivity, no finesse allowed.

I see my 996 C4S as a kind of compendium.

Well, enough. I hope no one has fallen asleep while reading this presentation.

JM

Fair.

I've a couple of them while at the track. This one is not the best shot, though, as I'd need to "censure" plates.

And, BTW, I'm behind the wheel, :drive: so the person showing is a friend of mine who seems to be a bit worried about the ride. :P

Let's try it again.

Any comments regarding length of pictures?
