Loud Clacking when turning sharp

When I am traveling at low speed...just above idle speed, like driving in a parking lot, and I turn the wheel sharply to the end of the steering wheels travel I hear a load clack, clack, clack, and feel a slight jarring at each clack in the steering wheel. Is this an Uh Oh! Any likely scenarios?

Me too, while turning left. I've looked at the entire system, with no obvious defect. Totally, like, puzzled....

Believe it or not, that is totally normal (if you don't have any worn parts at the top of your front struts) and it is a result of the particular front suspension design of 911's and Boxsters.

Agree with above. It sounds like "crap", but I noticed on my 997 Twin Turbo it was really loud and clunky...Like CV joints popping. I have had it at the dealer 3 times, and nothing is wrong....Or at least that is what they tell me. I imagine when my warranty expires, I will get the truth :) and a rather large bill...

I have the same issue when backing out of my garage. As far as I know it is totally normal. In fact, I have the same problem with a BMW M3 which I own. Maybe its a German Design thing.

I had the same problem , I changed my upper strut mounts and the noise is gone.!!

Me too. Took me a while to track it down, but the rubber bushes in the top mounts were totally shot.
