H7 SilverStar ULTRA vs. Osram SilverStar

Recommended Posts

Has anyone out there tried these two competing bulbs?

They are both H7 55W for my stock headlight assembly on a 2003 Boxster. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the difference between the two bulbs, which set looks better & provides better night vision.

PS: Any chance that either of these bulbs would do THIS?

I run Sylvania Silverstars in my Boxster and the Land Rover. Great experience, available everywhere (Advance has them on sale now) and while brighter than stock, no headlight damage.

I did not have good experience in my VW Beetle which is a diesel. Many Diesel owner have problems with the going bad in about 6 months, most likely due to the vibrations. The Boxster has had then for 2 years, the Rover 3 years, no burnouts.

I've run Silverstars for several years, zero issues. They aren't as good as HIDs but are without some of the issues in the stock headlamp mountings.

Thank you for all of the feedback. I just installed the SilverStar Ultra last night - they look pretty good, definitely a step up from the lights in there previously. They are whiter and brighter for sure.

This was my first experience changing out a bulb on a Boxster. After reading some of the guides online I thought it was going to be a huge project, but it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought. :)
