Wings, Wheels and Chin Spoilers

Recommended Posts

After not too much thought and a lot of looking I decided to add a Wing and Spoiler.... I decided that performance upgrades were expensive... somewhat dubious as to the actual performance increases but I did know what I liked when I saw it... Boats, cars and women.... if I don't like the lines.... I don't go there... yes.. I know... highly subjective... so if you don't like what I did... tuff... you can't mess with my boat or GF either so keep it to yerself... hahaha...

But I digress......

Kudos to Misha for the wing.... one of the highlights was driving to LA to meet him... good guy... wonderful product.... during installation there was a hitch but he was right there... answered the phone.... told me what to do and re-assured me there was no problem.... he also was bang on in terms of which wiring harness was required.... XXX-51.... I can't say enuff about this guy and his wings... He also has a pictorial DIY... 200 photos... awesome!!!

Loren... an endless supplier of information and support....Thank you... thank you!

Jeff at Sunset.....supplied the harness..... great guy too... good feedback and really cared about making it right....

Paul @ LA Porsche Dismantlers.... tried to source a used harness for me and did... I was operating under the impression I needed the Turbo harness but as Misha pointed out... it's the engine that drives the harness... not the body style.... These guys are good and also really care..

The roof spoiler came from Mina Galleries.... I have some fitment issues but their price was good so I don't mind...I expect to remedy that on Friday... They are responsive and when the Postal Service lost my order they shipped a replacement overnight to me.... can't complain about that!....

The install: Hughes Auto Body in Santa Barbara.... Walt is THE guy!!! I can't say enough about this guy.... A guys guy.... motorhead.... if you are in the area and need work.... PM and I will be glad to give you his number....

The Wheels...Wheel Dynamics!

After struggling with 18 vs 19.... staying stock vs aftermarket... thinking about offsets and considering if 19" wheels lead to RMS and IMS failure... I visited Wheel Dynamics in LA...

What I found was Eli... a knowledgeable guy with great prices and the experience to allow me to trust him regarding the selection and installation of a new set of wheels for my 02 C4S....

I was somewhat disappointed not to have the assistance of the blonde pictured on the website... I fully expected her to do the install.... however the fella that did the work was meticulous, precise and took great care whilst working on and around my car....

The showroom offers a great selection of rims to choose from and Eli carries a good stock of rims and tires.... the shop is clean and tidy and he has an array of specialty equipment ensuring a clean installation and excellent results in the mounting and balancing of your new wheels!

All in all it was a great experience and I am happy with my choice:

Rims: RPK - 038 19x8.5 and 19x10.5 (rear)

Rubber: Nitto 235/35/19 and 315/25/19 (rear)

If you want the offsets and spacer sizes...talk to Eli... he's the man!

Concerning the RMS and IMS... yes I made it home OK but I expect the worst....

The question....

Chin Spoiler... I feel I need to balance the Wing...

... Lotsa guys are using the Turbo chin and I see lots of threads on this and speaking of GT3 chins and sometimes one from the Aerokit.... of course the warning seems to be not to install it alone.... but can I buy it separately?

What do you think? I don't track the car... but I might just for the experience.... I guess I want the best looking (to me) and the one that provides the best balance for the car...

Anyone that has done this... I would appreciate the input!!
