I have read many threads on this topic but would like some clarification if anyone cares to comment. I thank you in advance for your input. Simply put, I would like to disable the PSE so it is on the open or loud setting all of the time regardless of speed or RPMs.

02 C4S, 6 speed, coupe, PSE without the dash mounted switch and according to a VIN search the PSE was a Factory option.

As I understand it one may remove a relay that is in position 23 or disconnect an orange plug (speedo input) in the engine compartment (RHS). I have attached pictures of my engine bay in an attempt to identify this orange plug.

Question: Is one method preferable to the other? Given this is a non switched application, does that change anything in the analysis or methodology of the conversion.

Cheers...

George

You can remove these ads by becoming a Contributing Member.

If you don't have a dash switch and never want the quiet mode you could remove the relay. You could also disconnect the wires at the switch over valve in the engine compartment..This would probably be the simplest and easily reversible.

Looks like I'm on the other side of this. I have PSE on my '03 C2 but there is no switch on the dash nor is there a plug or relay to disconnect. It is always on, ie. loud. According to my VIN search, PSE is not one of the listed options. Were there different versions of PSE? The cans look like the PSE Hack with the added pipe welded in place. In any case, they are too loud for me and I'd prefer the standard 3.6 cans if anyone would like to swap. Is there a way to modify my cans to quiet them (I know this is the opposite from what most seem to want)? I just bought my Porsche a few weeks ago and still have much to learn, but it's undoubtedly the greatest car I've ever owned. I'd very much appreciate any info on PSE anyone can provide. I've been all through the PSE Hack thread and can't find any other threads that seem relevant. Thanks...............

Dave

@ Dharn55.... yup that's the ticket and you are right... easy to go either way although I am pretty certain it will stay disabled!

Thanks for your help!
