Charging system issue?

Recommended Posts

My 99 C2 has an interesting charging issue, first I have just installed a rebuilt alternator and new battery. All seems well at first with the meter showing charging at 14 volts(approx) while driving. However as the weather gets warmer here in Florida and I run the AC I notice that the meter shows just over 12 volts charging(neeedle near bottom of gage. Car always starts fine. The needle also seems to drop when the cooling fans kick on to bring temps down. Any ideas or has anyone had similar issue--again already did new alternator and battery. Could this be a switch issue or something else? I know thae charging system is not complex-is this normal?

Thanks in advance for assistance

Hello! Mine never gets below about 12.5 ish when the system is very loaded (stage 2 fans + ac + radio) and it is hot outside.

There is a thread you might want to look at here which might be applicable. It is simple to diagnose if you remove the T/B you can inspect the condition of the wires or just replace them.
