06 CTTS Sunroof pops open by itself

Recommended Posts

My sunroof has started to randomly open to the pop-up position while driving. Has anyone seen this problem? This has happened twice in the last week without anyone touching the sunroof controls.

I have not heard of this problem before. The sunroof is controlled by a module and the only thing that comes to mind is a problem with the main switch, one of the limit switches or perhaps even moisture in the main switch from a blocked drain. Sorry I can't be of more help but I would check for water damage first.

I would run a Durametric scan or take it to the dealer to run a scan as there are a lot of little switches that control it. Without a fault code your in for a long haul of trial & error. There are also pressure switches just like the side windows which stop the motor when something is pinched.

My 2009 Cayenne GTS began doing this about a month ago. It was a very cold day, and when I hopped on the freeway, the middle panel opened up. Just today it happened again - opening and closing, even though the switch was in the proper position. It is very cold here again, thanks to the polar vortex, so I am thinking temperature may come into play here. In both cases i was able to get it to close up by opening and shutting the sliding sun screen that lies between the glass panels and the cabin.
