Instrument Cluster and roof

Recommended Posts

I have a strange problem! Few weeks ago I started the engine but the instrument cluster was totally dark and nothing worked... A day later everything worked again!

And now I have the same problem, but the roof doesn't work too! I was driving my car and I saw a little thunder on the instrument cluster and some word maybe "electric" but just for a second and then everything went dark.. All fuses are okey, the Durametric software can't communicate with the car!

Have somebody any idea what would be the problem???

Thx!

:) I'm sorry! This is a Boxster S year 2005 (280HP)

I tried reconnect almost all plugs, used some spray but still wrong... The battery cables are good, but how can I check the ignition switch? I moved the dashboard plug out-plug in the ignition cable but nothing happened!

Thx!

Year and model information is always helpful……….

Possible issues are the ignition switch (always a favorite) and/or a bad battery cable or connection.

The electrical section of the switch is a $15 item and a simple DIY project to replace. There is no real way to test it other than replace it. Do a quick search, you will find several "how to's" as this is a comon item.

  • 4 weeks later...

RFM is correct, the switch changed in 2005 and now looks like this:

Instead of this for the earlier cars:

The aftermarket price as also gone from about $10 to over $130......................

Hi everybody!

So, what happened with my car??? After 2 weeks my car works again! THE RADIO CDR24 has a "closure" or cadence and the electrician try to fix it! Now the radio is not in the car and everything (roof, instrumental panel...) works again!

When you have the same problem, please remember this!

Thanks for everybody!
