Could it be the headlight switch?

Recommended Posts

This is my first post here, hopefully someone has run come across this before. TIA for advice & comments.

Canadian spec 2000 Boxster S, 78,000km ~ 47K miles. Here are the symptoms:

Rear license plate lights don't work. One bulb was toast, so I replaced it. Still no-go. No popped fuses in the fuse panel. I haven't yet broke out the mutimeter and tested the circuit, but no bulb illumination indicates in issue somewhere. Are rear plate lights also controlled by the headlight switch directly?

Fog lights front & rear also do not work. This I have researched to be caused by a bad headlight switch.

I'm wondering if both problems could be cured by replacing the headlight switch, assuming of course the plate light cuircuit tests out OK.

All other lighting works properly: interior & dash lights, cluster, radio, high & low headlamps, brake and tail lights.

Any ideas or other reasonable diagnostics worth trying?

Thanks!

BoxsterSteve
