Roof Panel Replacement 996

Recommended Posts

So I needed to have the roof panel replaced on my 996 coupe with sunroof. Well I wnet to pick up the car and the sunroof wasnt aligned properly you could see where it was higher on one side. Looking inside the car you could see daylight. Well anyway I told the body shop look it isnt right. The sunroof doesnt align they indicated that they do not need to remove sunroof to change roof panel. Is that true? I would think you woudl need to remove the headliner, sunroof, front and rear glass to change the roof panel and then when reassembling you would need to adjust everything to fit properly.

Does anyone know? or does anyone have the repair procedure in writing so I can fight with the body shop/insurnace company?

Geico the insurance company already has done me no help by payign the body shop 9000 towards the repairs leaving only the 1000 deductible. Not leaving me much leverage at all.

Thanks,

Ethan

:welcome:

It all depends on if the frame is proper installed and straight.

The frame (unfortunately) has to come out for most major repairs and should be replaced on MY1999 and older cars (TSB on this).

Porsche book time for the frame replacement is over 7.5 hours labor.
