Identifying PCM version and proper map disk

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I just moved from Ontario to Alberta and my navigation system has stopped working - it requires a map disk. The ones I currently have are for eastern Canada. I have been looking through the forums for the correct disk, and am a little confused... My car is a 04 Cayenne Turbo, but when I hit Trip/Nav it indicated that the PCM and software version are 3.0. From what I have read about PCM 3.0 - I don't believe that I have that system in the car, the maps look quite different. Am I identifying this correctly?

3.0 PCM

3.0 System Software

6636 Device Type

The car came with two CDs: both indicate "compatible only with PCM Software Version 3.0 or higher" one is named East, the other Map 1A: Northeast and North Central US & Canada - dated 08.2003 and 08.2004 respectively.

So, what I would like to know is which map disk, or set of disks am I looking for, are there any software updates needed, and help in identifying the actual PCM unit as I may look to trade or purchase the disks secondhand.

6636 is PCM 2.0. http://www.beckeraut...he%20Menu.html this is a CD-based system, PCM 2.1 and PCM 3.0 are DVD-based. The software version of your unit is 3.0, which is the most up to date version. I can't help with map information, I'm afraid, as I am in the UK.

You should have PCM 2.x multimedia unit because of model year is 04. However, the SW/FW version can show 3.x (versions A, B, C), but you must use DVD for sure (unit is placed under front passenger seat). Please check your dealer, there is a 01/10 update of map DVDs (which works with your SW version for sure, an update is placed on the same DVD as maps), which are compatible for any PCM 2.x with DVD unit.

Thanks for the info - it is confirmed to be a 2.0 system, so it is CD based, but I am still looking for anyone willing to sell or trade for the latest map CD to cover my area: Alberta, Canada. Hopefully someone will come forward to help me out, the dealer charge for the whole set is a little steep in my opinion.

Hello Papagut

New to this site. I am in Chicago and just purchased a 2004 Cayenne Turbo from Texas, that has only the S0006-0063-408 08.2004 Map 2: West & Central US & Canada. I presume this covers Alberta. Would be willing to swap for the disc covering Illinois...
