After driving my 03 996 Cab 51k miles I would always notice a fairly strong smell of oil, even after only going a few miles. About a month ago, I noticed an oil leak and had it identified as the lower hose leading to the AOS. My indy checked the AOS/Bellows and all was fine. They replaced the leaky hose.

I thought that the oil smell would stop, but it hasn't. There are no oil leaks and I check the oil every other day and the computer continues to show full over the past 30 days. I looked in the forum and others had similar issues with answers ranging from "that's normal" to "its the coating Porsche puts on the undercarriage for shipping".

No CEL lights and the temp and oil pressure are fine. Thinking about cleaning out the throttle body this weekend. Any thoughts?

Smells like a normal smell to me! :D

Yes, the cosmoline rust preventative and clutch can produce some interesting smells you wouldn't find on most cars...

If the oil level is fine, and there aren't any excessive leaks then you continue to operate the vehicle worry free.
