Scammed by a member on this forum

Recommended Posts

Not sure how it is not goods or services?? What is it then.

Did you use a charge card to pay Paypal? If so you might be able to dispute the charge.

Now this may be controversial but I think you should post the name and information of the seller here along with the details of the transaction. Then let the seller respond if he chooses to do so. We would all benefit by knowing if a member is not to be trusted.

I am not sure that Loren has the time, or should get involved in these types of disputes, it could take up way too much of his time, etc. but at least making the old post available would be appropriate. If there is a member out there "selling" stuff here that is not for real we should all know it.

If the offender can be identified I would want to see him banned from a forum that I was running and identified (by name).

However, it is nearly impossible to permanently ban someone. They can always come up with fictitious accounts/etc. and continue to scam people.

Be careful I guess is the bottom line!

I like to talk to someone on the phone before buying something or encourage people to call me. You can get a better sense of legitimacy over the phone as opposed to through PMs or emails.

I would not name the seller on the forum yet. If he is an active member on this forum I doubt he is here to scam anyone. Perhaps something is going on in his life and he hasn't been on the computer. When I was in hospital and then recovering at home I didn't touch a computer for over six weeks.

I would contact Loren to advise on the next course of action. Maybe he can check when he was last online.
