I currently have an Audi A8L and it is a great car. I will replace at some point soon and I'd like to consider a Porsche. I'm 6'4" tall and desire a car that when I am seated comfortably, someone of average size can sit behind me. I realize that there is not a Porsche that can give as much room as the A8L, but I'd like to optimize it. I also have one 3 year old and possibly one or two more on the way.

Here is my dilemma:

The Cayenne:

Pro: sits three across in the back and could likely put 3 child seats in there if I need to do that.

Con: The leg room in the rear seat seems lacking.

The Panamera:

Pro: more leg room

Con: only two rear seats.

My questions:

For the Cayenne: Is the rear leg room really as bad as it seems?

For the Panamera, can a child seat be placed to straddle the rear center console? ( I doubt it ) Is there an option to get rid of the rear console?

I appreciate any help / comments.

(I'm dual posting this in the Cayenne forum as well)

I have a 2005 Cayenne and stand 6'3". I often have adults as rear seat passengers and nobody has ever complained about leg room. What year of Cayenne are you looking at? I understand the 2010+ have more room.

I would probably get a new one, next year or the year after.

Are you really deciding between a Panamera and a Cayenne based on the rear seat room? Isn't that like deciding between an apple and a shovel based on which is the right color?

I just test drove and order a new 2013 Cayenne diesel. The rear seats room seemed to be pretty good. I know this is a subjective comment. I'm 6' 2" and had no issues when I sat in the back, although it was just a quick test. Also the rear seats have some adjustablility (a new feature??) with front and back slides as well as backrest tilt.

But as noted above Panamera vs. Cayenne are quite different in ride, performance, and duties.

I want to know this too - I would love to be able to squeeze in two car seats and a person... Would prefer a Panamera to an XJL which is the other car I am looking at, and this is probably going to be the decider.
