A far as I can see - there is no rhyme or reason to when P comes out with new maps.. It seems they are getting less frequent as the cars they fit get older. I ordered new maps last spring, and ended up getting 2009 maps, at the time the latest available. I understand sometime this past year they came out with 2010 maps (in 2011!).. so it took at least 2 years to get a 1 year update (confusing?).. When the 2.1 was still a current unit - if you look at ebay auctions for disks - it appears they came out about every 6 months or so.

Shame there isn't a "lifetime" subscription deal... they could even do it where we download and burn the DVD disks ourselves.. Tie the map update to the unit SN. Garmin does this on most of their units now - and for $99 total fee (or free in some cases) - you can go grab a new set of maps every 6 months.

Dropped my car off at the dealer today for an AC related issue and inquired about this...I got the complete run around and was very disappointed not only with his lack of knowledge of the (very) basic refrigerant loop in my two zone 2006 Cayenne Turbo but also with his inability to share a morsel of information that would help me do this update. I am fairly perturbed by the whole ordeal. Will keep you posted on results. Boot legging it almost feels like the way to go.
