New to me 2004 911 TT X50 Smoking on cold mornings

My 996TT will have a thick puff of blue smoke at startup but only occasionally. Two different and reputable Indie mechanics said its normal to have some oil setting in the cylinders after shutdown on these engines depending upon the position of the crank. Most of the time it starts perfectly clear but seems more common in the 35-50F range. I quit worrying and just check the oil regularly.
