996 coupe 2000 6 speed: seat belt attachment point plastic cover

Recommended Posts

When I bought my 996, the plastic cover for the seat belt top attachment point (near the window) was missing on the driver side. I purchased a replacement plastic cover. The part number on it seems correct for my car year (997.803.521.00; according to the company that sold the part, in this particular case the part is good for the 996 and the 997, this explains the 997 in the number). However, I was not able to install the cover. It does't just seem to fit. Is it possible that some remains of the old cover are still in? Or, what could be the problem?

Thanks

Removal

As of MY2000 - Press seat belt height adjuster release 8 out of the hexagon head bolt 5 using a screwdriver.

Install

Insert peg of the seat beat height adjuster release 8 into the hexagon-head bolt bore 5.

Note: The seat belt height adjuster release must not be separated. If the cover of the retaining frame loosens when removing, the seat belt height adjuster release 8 must always be replaced.

Loren, my E-bay DVD manual (i know I know) states to remove the cover first then the assembly, which I wish i never followed... clearly you have a more recent and accurate version of the manual since getting the cover back on without bending the flimsy metal tabs was a nightmare... clearly never to be separated!

Where does one get a copy of an accurate fsm like the version you have?

Wish I checked here before doing my remote range TSB DIY...

Are you talking about the B-pillar removal?

Your car mode and year, coupe or cab?
