"grumble" rough feel when changing down from 3rd

Recommended Posts

Slightly strange one this, but when I change down from 3rd to 2nd, the car feels a little "rough". Not when changing from 4th to 3rd or 5th to 4th etc, just 3rd to 2nd.

Its kinda hard to describe other than it feels rough & lumpy as the clutch comes up & engages 2nd gear.

In all other ways the car feels fine.

Any suggestions ? Its an 02 996 with 19k miles.

R.

If it were my car the first thing I would do is drain the transmission oil and look for metal. Since your car is likely still under warranty - you might want to take it to the dealer for a transmission check.

I just bought an '03 w/ 10k miles that does a similar thing sometimes shifting from any gear to 2nd. Specially when it's cold. I've been wondering if its normal. I took it to the dealer. They told me that it's perfectly normal. Not sure how reliable this mechanic is though.
