Transmission Issue 997-1 S 99K Miles

Recommended Posts

On the way home last night my nightmare started. In lower revs felt a shutter from under the car next thing you know grinding.

Then raising the clutch a bunch of grinding clunks and bangs and finally won't move Dropped off at PORSCHE :-(

99,600 S 997.1

Any rough ideas on what this might be and cost to rebuild at a local lower cost PORSCHE shop.

I cannot afford to go NEW and yes I am out of warranty.

Sounds to me like a disintegrated clutch rather than a trani. If in fact it is the trani or transaxle, then first explore buying used from a dismantler. I would start with those advertising in Panorama and Excellence magazines. Ask around and get yourself a good independent Porsche shop once the dealer tells you the likely issues. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
