Thoughts on my Over Revs -- Ignitions Range 2

Hello:

2003 996 C4S, manual, 52k miles.

Bought the car about a month or so ago. I have suspected it was a tracked car due to the after-market super charger and Bilstein Coil-overs. Most of the issues I was facing on its general running condition are resolved.

I just got my Durametric in the mail. Was sad to see the following info on the Range 2. But, looks like it was quite a while back so any damage was either repaired or non existent - Im guessing.... Anyway - looking for any other opinions.

Number of ignitions range 2 281 / 1553.8h (*** divided by 3, correct? = 93)

Operating hours counter 1592.8

Also - I see misfires on initial cold start up. Mostly in cylinders 3 and 6. (about 4-5 in each but then none after its warmed up). Any concerns there?

The most recent Range 2 over-rev occured about 39 hours ago. Your car's average MPH is 52,000 / 1,592.8 = 32.6.

32.6 ave mph x 39 hours = 1,273 miles ago.

So, my guess, it that this happen "on your watch" during the past couple months of your ownership.

Cool - I appreciate the math. However, I only have about 350 miles on the car so far since I purchased. The car seems to be running ok with smooth power and no major issues - hoping all is going to stay that way!

I wouldn't be overly concerned... as you eluded to the number isn't as high as it initially seems. Not great to have a lot of range 2 ignitions but likely it's fine (ie no damage as a result that was repaired before you got the car). With this version of the DME you really don't have a ton of info on how much or how long the threshold was exceeded -- meaning these might have just been late up-shifts that didn't get caught by the rev limiter in time and a mild violation occurred that barely breached and only lasted a fraction of a second, etc....as opposed to someone accidentally dropping the clutch on a down-shift from 5th to 1st, etc.
